Why Recycle Computers?
Recycling an old computer is not easy. I would want to make sure that I did not have any personal information stored on the hard drive. So this means finding someone who could clean my computer of all the files I have stored on it. It would also cost me to have this service if I did not know someone who would do it for free. I have discarded of an old computer and other electronics such as CD's and DVD's. The old laptop computer just stopped working. I delivered it to a local landfill because I knew no one could use it after it burned out. Now that I know more about recycling and donating my old computers and electronic devices I will do my part to reduce electronic waste for the future and for a greener planet.

I’m on Project 15
My thoughts and experiences with
this chapter have been an increase in knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010.
Chapter three covered formatting documents and how the reader interprets the
document, how it is read, and the impression of the document. Proper formatting
is necessary in creating professional documents. Setting margins and indenting paragraphs are required skills
for professional documents. These are set and changed from the Page Layout tab.
Spacing between lines and paragraphs can be changed by the Home tab or
Paragraph dialog box. Tabs position text within a line. Tabs also align
multiple paragraphs and text into columns. I practiced holding down the Alt key
and dragging to select a vertical block of text but it does not work, I can
select a vertical block by holding down the left click button and sliding. I
will continue to practice this new technique. Hanging Indents are also
necessary when typing a paper using AMA or APA styles of writing. I have used
first line indents when typing reports. Creating bulleted and numbered list are
not difficult to format if you follow the steps under the Home tab. Headers and
Footers are used in research reports and are located under the Insert tab. The
Insert tab also has clip art and graphics to add to documents. Under the
Reference tab is where footnotes and endnotes are created. These are also
important skills to use in research papers. Templates are master documents that
include the basic elements for a particular type of document. HTML is a term I
am familiar with and it is a file format for documents viewed using browser
software that does not have Microsoft Word.
Two terms I was unfamiliar with
were Ligature (two or more letters combined into one character). This is an
OpenType font developed by Microsoft and Adobe. The other term was Pagination,
how a document is divided into pages. Page breaks are found under the Insert
tab. When a document is edited the pagination is automatically updated by Word.
There is so much to learn and as fast as I can learn this
information technology has developed something new!
